What you can expect on a Bitches ‘n Barrels surf trip
Though each Bitches ‘n Barrels trip offers its own unique experience, there are a few key elements that remain consistent across all of our surf adventures. Whether you’re joining us for a classic surf weekend, an intermediate longboarding weekend, a five-day surf camp, or the reunion weekend, you can always expect:
Deluxe Camping at Surf Grove
Located on Cox Bay, Surf Grove offers a pretty swanky camping experience. In addition to being walking distance to the most consistent surf beach in Tofino, Surf Grove also offers large sites, free hot showers, laundry services, power and water on site, semi-reliable wifi, a co-working space, and a well-stocked general store (in case you forget any essentials). Each participant will share a large site with 3-4 other participants. It’s dreamy and we love it here.
Supportive Trip Leads
Our team of trip leads is incredible. Each lead undergoes surf coaching, forecast reading training, and safety training to ensure you're in good hands. While they may offer tips and guidance in the water, their primary role is to lead and support you throughout the weekend, not to provide formal surf coaching. Whether you're just starting out or working on advanced skills, our trip leads have all been through the ups and downs of surf progression and understand the challenges you're facing.
Tailored & Inclusive Surf Coaching
Our trips feature coaching through Surf Sister or Lydia Ricard. Coaching sessions are tailored to suit your skill level. Our group lessons are set up so that there are enough coaches and individualized feedback to ensure you get the best instruction for wherever you’re at in your surf journey.
Delicious & Nutritious Dinners
We love cooking and we love sharing meals with friends. Each dinner will be cooked on-site. Our meals are delicious and can be made to accommodate vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, and most allergies. If you have questions about our menu, please reach out!
Quality In-water Pics (aka serious bragging rights)
There’s something really special about in-water surf photos. Whether you’re riding a wave or sitting on a surf board staring majestically out at the sea, our crew of talented photographers will make sure you take home a couple pictures to show your friends and family what a badass you are.
Sustainable Merch
Each year we connect with new local designers to put together fun BnBs merch for our participants. Being conscious of the environmental impact of fast fashion, we source sustainable apparel (off-cuts, organic cotton) with responsible and transparent manufacturing to ensure participants not only look awesome, but also feel good about the clothes they’re wearing when sporting BnBs swag!
Camaraderie & Connection
We believe the best way to learn to surf is alongside a crew of supportive and like-minded individuals. The main purpose Bitches ‘n Barrels is community building, and our trips are designed to have you leaving with new surf skills and new friends to connect and share waves with in the future.
A bunch of laughs
Because surfing is silly and fun and women are hilarious.

Consistent weather & surf
We cannot control the weather or waves. While we do our best with the conditions Mother Nature throws our way, Tofino is a rainforest and all participants should assume rain, wind, storms, and variable surf conditions could occur at any time. Please plan and pack accordingly.
